Read this one....

I want to share a book with you today.

This is a children's book from the United Methodist Women Reading List for 2016.  It is an amazing story about what arose from the idea given by a child!

There is a note from the authors included, which gives the synopsis of the story, and how this "crazy idea" resulted in something wonderful for the village.  Recycling + teamwork = great results!

Last week-end....

With the coming week-end very close at hand, I'm still thinking about last week-end!

Yes, it was spent in Charleston, SC!

Along with more than 700, I attended the Southeastern Jurisdiction United Methodist Women Quadrennial meeting!  What an amazing time!  Perfect opportunity to hear tremendous speakers with inspirational messages.

We took a little time to walk a bit around Charleston - even bringing something home.:-)

The cooking will continue, enhanced by these additions.:-)  The memories will linger.

From my cookbook collection....

Continuing on with the challenge to prepare something from each of the cookbooks in my collection, today is from a favorite - Susan Branch!!

This one was published in 1988 and followed her first one, Heart of the Home.

Lemon Noodles is the recipe I chose from this book.

Here it is - ready to serve!  Yum!!  Very good with chicken, shrimp - even meatballs!  A perfect flavor for the season.  Isn't it time to eat yet?

A new favorite....

Accepting a challenge to utilize my recipe stash, I turned once more to one from the internet.

Easy to mix....

Pan nicely filled....

Out of the oven....

....and we have a nice breakfast treat!  Munchkin the Younger declared this a thumbs-up!

I'm saving my bananas to make them again!:-)

"A good meal....

....is not complete without dessert."  The Husband

So - that is where this entered the picture.

In an on-going effort to utilize recipes from all the recipe sources I have on hand, I brought up this printed one from Paula Deen, courtesy of the Food Network.

It even looks nice still under cover.

Uncovered nicely, Munchkin the Elder commented that it was just like a chess board!:-)

It even serves neatly!:-)  Very tasty and well-received by all who were present.

The first full week of June is with us.  Have a good one!

An "oldie...."

I just don't find myself able to part with cookbooks, particularly this one from years ago.

It is one of the ones I've chosen for my own "cookbook challenge," and it was put to use in preparing for the holiday.

For this occasion, I added sliced beef frankfurters to the mix in order to have appeal to the "younger set."

I suppose it could be renamed "Beanie Weenies.":-)  Whatever it is named, it was perfect for our holiday feasting.

Warm days....

....call for something cold and refreshing!

I first tasted this while shopping at a favorite shop.  Eager to duplicate it at home, I needed to make a purchase!

Amazing mulling spices....

....dissolved in lemon lime soda and ginger ale!

Using the entire package of mulling spices would need two liters of each.  I divided the package since I didn't need to make four liters!!

I was able to find the Blue Sky at a local organic market.  No high fructose corn syrup in these - sweetened with real sugar!:-)

It is good to be able to mix it up the day before, then chill it all together overnight.  Fresh orange slices give it a really good flavor, too.

Needless to say, there were no leftovers after our Memorial Day guests were through with it.:-)
