Snow days….

…..don’t happen often here in the Tennessee Valley.

This was predicted several days in advance, and it arrived as expected.

Sometimes snow days bring special treats….
Waffles for breakfast….
Roasted Red Pepper Tomato Bisque Soup with grilled cheese….
or….homemade pizza.

It’s good to be prepared with a stack of books….

I will admit that I have made very good progress with these!  I’ll need to be on the alert for other titles in the event of another snowy forecast.

The favorite activity, though, is simply enjoying the warmth of the fireplace!

Stay warm and cozy!

  1. Oh, you got some snow! The first snow is magical, and everything becomes still for a while. It's nice to have comforting foods on those cold days when it snows or rains. Your tomato soup and grilled cheese looks delicious. And that hot drink with the cute cup! Enjoy your snow days if you get any more, Nellie, and I hope the new year is being good to you. I have been craving pizza lately! Every time I go into town, they haven't prepared the dough, so it's not ready. ; )

  2. How nice that you finally got some snow. It has snowed every day here except for 1 day since the beginning of the year!!!
Last count we had 21 inches.

  3. Well, Sister, Google didn't even ask me to sign in tonight! Go figure! :-) I'm a sucker for snow-covered trees, and your top picture is magical. It reminds me of a tree called "Fortitude" that belonged to a friend who lives in Gatlinburg. Unfortunately, Fortitude was burned in the fires of 2016, but there are some other lovely trees growing there now. All of your food looks scrumptious, and that warm drink is tasty in your cute mug! Just fine for snuggling under that nice, soft cover. Enjoy this snow while it lasts! Love you!

  4. Your snow looks lovely Nellie. I love how it brings us indoors for cozy days by the fire. Your menus looks delicious and I'm sure were enjoyed. Take care and stay warm.

  5. The snow is pretty. I'd like to see snow again. It's not likely to happen in Florida, although it's been chilly here. Your meals look delicious.

    Love,

  7. Very cozy! Nothing like a good book and a fire. FREEZING here, but I am stocked with books, tea, soup, a fire and loving it. Enjoy your cozy!
