Doing some "make-up" work....

Unintentionally omitted on Cookbook Wednesday, today's post adds two more states to the mix.

Connecticut!

Florida!

Also, there are some other "firsts" that have appeared.

The first David Austin rose - The Lark Ascending.  There are other buds about to bloom!

Yes, I know.  The damaged leaves need to be trimmed off!  Oh, dear!

These are the first blooms from the dogwood tree since we set it out a few years ago!

Here in the United States, this is Mother's Day week-end.  I hope you have a happy one!

  1. That is a most lovely rose, and I hope it soon has many "friends" blooming alongside it! Have an enjoyable Mother's Day weekend, Sister! Love you! :-)

  2. I never buy orange juice. If we have it I always use Valencia oranges when they are in the market. MMMMMMM good... I am not a lover of clam chowder. I love corn chowder. The rose is lovely damaged leaves and all.... Have a Happy Moms Day.

  3. Nellie, I love your flowers. There's no way you can keep up with bugs that nibble on our roses. My sister when she moved left behind her beautiful yellow rose. I am hoping her daughter Jamie digs it up and takes it to her house...she is the one who got it for Jeanie. The landlord at Jeanie's old place will not mind her taking it. Hope you have a good weekend. It's just messy here today damp and cloudy. Wishing you a Happy Mother's Day. xoxo,Susie

  4. I happen to love clam chowder very much and also corn chowder. The difference with my clam chowder is I sautee the onion first and add the potatoes and diced carrot. Then I use the clam juice to cook the potatoes in and add a wee bit of water. I don't use corn in my clam chowder but I use a diced carrot instead. I also use Campbell Cream of Mushroom for a tasty creamy chowder, a bit of 2% scaled milk and a little dill weed, salt and pepper.

Now however I can't eat Campbell Cream of Mushroom soup and I have to make my own cream of mushroom soup.

    Hugs,
    JB
