A favorite recipe from those long-ago days was pizza! This was before one could find some sort of pizza place on nearly every corner, so making it at home was about the only solution to one's pizza desire.
Making pizza at home required some advance planning! One time I remember making this was when The Husband was still The Boyfriend, making a trip to visit me, as we weren't in the same town.
Browning the Italian sausage....
Browning the mushrooms....
Spreading the dough onto the pan....
....and there you have it!! Pizza, ready to eat!! Yum!! It is still a favorite around here!
I bet hubby enjoys it when you reminisce right into his tummy! Mua!
ReplyDeleteWell, Sister, I also still have my first complete cookbook, but it wasn't from Betty! It's an old Wesson Oil paperback book that is falling apart now, with many favorite recipes that I still use often. I'm sure The Boyfriend was impressed by your culinary efforts, and look where you both are all these decades later! Have a wonderful Wednesday, and stay cool!!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Nellie,
ReplyDeleteI made pizza from my Betty Crocker cookbook too. We couldn't afford to buy it so I learned to make it. I think I learned to cook from Betty Crocker. How nice you still use it. I know I still use mine. Have a lovely day.
What a treasure you have there, Nellie. Your pizza is calling my name as yours looks delicious. Homemade is always better. Enjoy your afternoon. ♥
ReplyDeleteI grew up outside of New York City and even back then there was a pizza place on every corner. Ken's family owned one of them. : )
ReplyDeleteYour pizza looks delicious. Never met a pizza a didn't like! : )
This looks like my old cookbook, another great one. Your pizza looks delicious! It's hard to beat homemade pizza, you have inspired me to make some soon. Take care
ReplyDeleteNellie, You are the cook ,sweet lady . The only homemade pizza I ever made was those old Chef-boy-r-dee things. Now it frozen pizzas. LOL. I bet yours is so much better. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteThat pizza looks so much more appetizing than the bought variety! No wonder it's a favourite.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for you to meet Susan Branch, Nellie. I'm sure she would have loved your thoughtful gift to her. A day to remember!
