Labor Day….

How are you spending your time today?  Are you planning a picnic at a popular spot and hoping there is room for you when you reach that destination?

We opted to “picnic” in our own kitchen.  I receive no points for presentation, though the menu was quite tasty.

Overnight barbecue….thank you, crockpot!  Potato salad….thank you, Susan Branch!  Speedy baked beans….thank you, Betty Crocker!  Creamy cole slaw….thank you, package of already shredded cabbage!  Brownies….thank you, Hershey’s Cocoa, for our favorite recipe!

Now, I believe it’s time for a nap! 😂

  1. Oh, Sister! That all looks and sounds so delicious, and I'm sure it is - or WAS! Enjoy your nap; I'm about to take one, too. Love you! Happy Labor Day!

  2. Oh, I don't think I've ever had the Hershey's Cocoa brownies. I used to make the cake though many years ago. Your brownies look Yummy, Nellie. And the barbecue, potato salad, baked beans, and coleslaw all look delicious. It's just a small meal here of fried chicken, tortilla chips, and strawberry cake. I hope you have a nice Labor Day, Nellie. I think a picnic in your own kitchen sounds perfect.

  3. Boy does your meal look like the perfect menu to celebrate Labor Day, Nellie! My hubby cooked burgers on the grill. Nothing fancy but a good way to relax and enjoy without too much preparation. Happy Labor Day!

  5. Looks yummy - the perfect Labor Day meal! We had Impossible Burgers with cheese ( though, they will be our last..even though they are healthy for the earth there is still a lot of fat in them), local corn on the cog - so sweet. And baked potato chips. Oh...and a beer! Happy September to you !

  6. Your Labor Day meal sounds like a real winner. I laboured all day in the kitchen but not for such a nice meal. I made a big batch of salsa with our bounty of tomatoes and bottled it for the winter.

    Take care.
