It was a busy week-end here. It was time for a UMW Conference event - Sisters In Service - which meant it was time to load the Reading Program books (ordered, and arrived here at the house last week) and head to the retreat.
Covering two long tables. |
The retreat was an overnight event, so it was midday Sunday before I returned home. I was hoping to be home in time to go to a Capital Campaign event at church, and I am glad that was possible. Our church is involved in many outstanding ministries, and it is always good to be able to attend a program where that is celebrated.
City Girl had come through the area on Friday heading to a destination further northeast. She worked her way back this direction, and we were happy to have her overnight on Sunday. Due to weather conditions, we may also have her tonight, which would please us greatly!
Speaking of weather, after a high temperature in the upper-sixties on Sunday, today's temperature is expected to fall at least 35 degrees from that level during the day, with icy roads a real possibility as the precipitation changes from rain to freezing rain to sleet and even maybe some snow! This storm is named Titan by the Weather Channel, and it has appeared to be an enormous storm as it has crossed the country! I hope you who are in the path of the storm are taking this hit as well as you are able. It appears that winter isn't through with us yet.
Thank you for reading. I really appreciate your comments.
we were supposed to get a foot of snow and all we only got about 3 inches. i was so disappointed! but, at least now the guys should be able to get here to install my new ovens!
ReplyDeleteThis weather has been crazy (in a good way for me though). We had six inches of snow last night!
ReplyDeleteI think I see that bowl, peeking out from under that sign! I hope it served a useful purpose---perhaps holding some $$$ for books that others purchased! :-) City Girl is very wise to wait for the ice to melt in her town. Some of my FB friends have posted pictures, and it all looks very pretty, but it is hazardous driving!!
ReplyDeleteHope your day is going well at this point. It seems that we dodged the ice bullet this time here, but other areas are not so fortunate.
Hi Nellie , your daughter was wise to choose to spend the night and I know you was more than please ,she is a very wise lady . It's time for me to get my garden ready .
ReplyDeleteI , like Glenda hope the beautiful bowl is holding lots of money from books that was purchased ,donations will help a lot of your churches ministries . Thanks so much for sharing :)
Glad you had a safe trip . Your daughter staying the would be fun, I bet. We lucked out on thie storm..only got about 6 inches, not the 10. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteWhen did they start naming storms? This year? I hope it doesn't get that cold but I bet it does. There will have to be a warm up soon I think.
ReplyDeleteYour table looks good. You were so busy this weekend.
I bet you are glad to have your daughter at home.
sounds like a busy time, good for you all! tonight it is dipping into the teens, ice was everywhere this morning. tomorrow they are saying a warm up into the 40's, hope that it does. have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI hope the ice misses you! We had only snow here and bitter cold but my brother near STL had ice.
ReplyDeleteIt sound like you are busy with church right now and that is good!
Stay safe and warm. The events you attended sounded enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear that churches are doing more things like this. Your bowl plays a wonderful role here for keeping the money in it.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear about your weather is getting good day by day.
Speaking of weather... it is 1am, Tuesday morning and it's raining and cold as a well diggers butt! Yuk! Since Michael got out of the hospital on Monday, I have no plans to get out of the house.
ReplyDeleteYou are a busy lady Nellie!
ReplyDeleteSeems like winter just keeps hanging on, while here I am looking forward to mild Autumn days.
Hope the rest of the week goes well.
Betty
