The Husband took a walk to the garden, and he found this to bring to the house.
It isn't a very large one, but we are definitely happy to have it! There has been another one that we gave to the Muncho/Macho family a couple of weeks ago.
This was actually cut in half, although the picture appears that the melon wasn't evenly divided! Regardless, it has been very delicious! This is the latest we've had to wait for watermelons to ripen.
Latest donation of produce from our church community garden was over 1,900 pounds!
The last post mentioned the expression "fresh start." As someone commented, each new day brings an opportunity for a fresh start. I hope this day will be a happy one for you.
A reminder - there is a giveaway underway. Check out Monday's post for details!
Thank you for reading. I really appreciate your comments.
this watermelon looks so good. i have not had a good one this summer. everyone seems to sell the seedless variety and i don't think they are as good as the ones with seeds. watermelons are supposed to have seeds!
ReplyDeleteOh, that looks so wonderful and juicy! Our day is beginning quietly, and it will probably continue the same way, which is find with us! Lazy bums like the quietness, you know. LOL Have a wonderful Wednesday, Sister!
ReplyDelete1900 pounds of fresh produce is a huge amount. Congratulations on this great achievement to your church community.
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations on that great looking watermelon. I can almost taste it. Yummy yummy.
Fortunately we can make fresh starts every day but it will be the end for that big watermelon, such was it's fate.
Hugs for a great day.
JB
That is some beautiful watermelon. I haven't had watermelon in ages and ages!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had much watermelon this year, but I sure do like them... even if they make me pee like a racehorse!
ReplyDeleteNellie, Something very tasty from the garden. Wonderful. It looks yummy. Things are really turning around here. The soybean fields are yellowish and the corn is looking somewhat brown. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteOh my that looks good. We bought one the other day and it wasn't very sweet. Any hints on how to pick out a good one?

What a fun surprise to have a watermelon. Congratulations on the volume of produce by your church community. That's amazing!
ReplyDeleteLove watermelon. Reminds me of family picnics in the summer and us kids trying to see who could spit the seeds the farthest. Of course without the adults knowing...LOL. Looks delish! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful watermelon... We eat watermelon every single day during the summer. But--we didn't grow our own, so I'm sure that yours is better....
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
