"Throwback Thursday...."

This post is going back to one just at a year ago!

Featuring a recipe today for the Chocolate Gravy that is in the pan on the stove!

CHOCOLATE GRAVY
2 Tablespoons butter
2 Tablespoons cocoa
2 Tablespoons flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups milk
- Melt butter in skillet.
- Mix dry ingredients together.  Add vanilla to milk.  (At this point, I put dry ingredients in a jar, then poured the liquid into it, covered, and shook it until everything was well blended).
- Pour into skillet with melted butter and cook over medium high heat, stirring constantly until thick.
- Serve with hot biscuits.

Of course, you see that I added a little pat of butter just for "good measure!":-)

The Husband really likes this!  I am actually not a fan of anything like this on my biscuits.  I much prefer adding sausage, ham, or egg to them.:-)  Maybe even a touch of cheese.:-)

Like someone said, "Who can go wrong with chocolate?"

  1. Oh, yes! Chocolate is always great, but I think I agree with you about putting this gravy on biscuits, although many would agree with The Husband on that question! I think it would be lovely used as a dip for vanilla wafers or fruit....yes, I can see putting strawberries into this pan of gravy....you might have just given me an idea, Sister! Have a terrific day! Love you!

  2. I've heard of chocolate gravy, Nellie, but have never made it. I'm with you on what goes with a biscuit. My husband would vote with yours! Have a lovely day. It's a Winnie the Pooh windy day here. It's drying up all the rain we've had! xo ♥

  3. Make that me too, I like a dab of butter and maybe some jam or marmalade on my biscuit. The chocolate gravy or sauce would be nice on ice cream.
    Hugs,

  4. I am in agreement with you, I just don't know about that on my biscuit. I like just butter. :) It looks good though.
