Cookbook Wednesday - Breakfast again....

Our love for breakfast continues here, and today's cookbook once again visits the beginning meal of the day!

Gorgeous book jacket, still intact after all these years!

Have you ever seen a prettier copyright page?!

The beauty of the pictures continues throughout the book.  I'd love to have a baking/cooking center just like this one!

Lest you think all I've done is look at the pictures in the book, there have been some very favorite recipes.

For the chocolate lovers....as well as those who enjoy rhubarb, soon to be in season.

There's that favorite German Pancake!

Buckwheat Waffles were a favorite of Country Girl's when she was still at home!

Who can resist the allure of homemade hash brown potatoes!

But - the real favorite in this book would be this -

This recipe for Good Plain Biscuits managed to take the blue ribbon at our local fair!  Delicious!

Why not have breakfast for supper?

  1. Hi Nellie!
Country Living Cookbooks are always so alluring. However, since breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, this one looks especially tempting. Plain Old Biscuits would be my choice but the thought of German Pancakes just sends me over the top!

Thank you so much for sharing, Nellie...I'll link this up to Cookbook Wednesday for you. We already have quite a few entries:)

  2. My grandmother used to make the "big, country breakfast" and there were always leftovers that got covered with a tablecloth and snacked on until lunch. Bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits, gravy, the whole nine yards! About the only time we eat a "big" breakfast, is for dinner.

  3. Love those good "down home" recipes. MyHero loves German pancakes and I never make them- bad me. I have to say that I do not like buckwheat pancakes. They always taste "sour" to me- I have tried them several times over the years and they always taste the same. lol xo Diana

  4. Nellie, I love that baking center too. The shelf for the cookbooks is perfect. My gosh, I have not heard about buckwheat pancakes for years. If you eat a big old breakfast, you hardly need a lunch. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
p.s. Hoping you do not get ice this time.

  7. We also have breakfast for supper at least once a week, and we really enjoy it, especially since my hubby and I do not always eat breakfast at the same time. We might have soft-boiled eggs with mayo and crackers for supper sometimes, then there are always various styles of pancakes and that faithful standby, French Toast, all of which are yummy for me any time of the day! I hope your day has been good, Sister! Coming to you late today again, after a busy day here. Love you!
