December....

Two weeks ago, we enjoyed spending time with my nephew and his family at his in-law's home about 10 miles or so from where we live.  It was a rainy day, and the temperature was dropping throughout the day. As we were returning home in the late afternoon, we found ourselves in the midst of snow showers that had been predicted.  As we neared home, however, we discovered our area had escaped the beautiful, white, wet snow.  Nonetheless, I used the "first snowfall" as the reason to enjoy this for supper.  What is better than tomato soup and grilled cheese on the occasion of the first snowfall of the season?:-)

A week ago, this is the picture I took from the patio behind our house.
Fog in December

Today's high temperature was 65 degrees.  Tomorrow is the first day of winter.  Christmas is Sunday, and tourists are having to adjust their plans as they came to the mountains for a Christmas vacation that would surely include snow.  Not this year!  I remember last Christmas, however, had some moments of uncertainty about whether our daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren would actually be able to make the trip home from two hours away.  There was snow, but it came without dangerous road conditions, thankfully, so we were able to say we had a "white Christmas" with our family here with us.

Whatever your plans for the days ahead, my wish for you is that you stay safe, do that which you love, and take time to enjoy this wonderful season!

Thank you for reading, and good wishes to you and your family!

  1. What beautiful pictures from your patio! There's just something about a foggy morning, especially when the fog freezes and looks like a light snowfall, that makes it feel like Christmas, even when it's not! I'm sure you will have a lovely Christmas this year, even with no snow, and I'm looking forward to seeing family members that we don't often get to see. Keep up the great work here! I'm enjoying it!
