Glimpses of fall....

As we have been out and about this week, we are seeing some signs of fall around us.

A tree lining the parking lot at church.

We have had a few cold mornings in recent days, so there will be more signs to follow, I'm sure.

A recent trip to the Farmer's Market had this display.

Plants for the season....
And these....

Some herbs in there, too.

The Husband bought a very healthy sage plant.  Ours had given up during the summer, and we really enjoy fresh sage, particularly with Thanksgiving cooking coming up in fewer than two months!

We have had warmer weather today, so the progression toward other signs of fall may be slowed down a bit.  I'm sure there are those of you who are seeing lots of fall colors where you are!

Thank you for reading!  I really enjoy your comments.

  1. beautiful photos! I love sage as well and the Canadian thanksgiving is in just over a week, I think this summer was really hard on a lot of you in the States, hope next summer its a better summer, no drought, no flooding,

  2. These all look so wonderfully colorful! I'm sure your fall garden is coming along nicely, too! I wonder whether that tree near your church might be affected somewhat by the fumes and heat from cars passing by. There's a tree across the road from us that is a pretty good indicator of other fall colors nearby, and it hasn't started to turn yet. Shouldn't be long, though!!

  3. Nellie, I have never grown sage...I should give it a try. It isn't Thankgiving without it in the dressing.Smiles, Susie

  4. Beautiful photos Nellie!

We have no fall color here, just dull shades of orange and brown.

  5. Love going to farm stands and markets this time of year. I did notice a couple of trees starting to get more color. It is still humid, we are getting heavy rain, too. I like sage, especially fresh. xo

  8. Ohhhhh, pretty plant, Nellie. Just curious what other things you use fresh sage for.

Thanks for your visits and comments to my blog. So nice to have you stop by frequently.

Take care and have a nice weekend. Here? Rain, rain, rain. Susan

  9. Beautiful pictures, Nellie. It's definitely peak fall in West MI. The colors are just breath-taking right now. I need to get photos before the colors and leaves all disappear.

  11. The pots of plants at the Farmers' Market look healthy and colourful. Sage is certainly a strongly flavoured herb and good in stuffing. I like the pretty purple flowers.
Thank you for your comments on my blog Nellie. You asked if we are through winter yet and if it gets very cold. Well, I thought we had farewelled winter and cold days, but today has been very cold with rain, hail and a strong wind! Our winters are not as cold as yours. We don't have snow here in the suburbs and it rarely reaches zero degrees celsius. However,we do experience very cold southerly winds that feel as though they have come straight from the South Pole!
Hope you have an enjoyable week-end.
