That box of Rice Krispies....

Happy Tuesday to you!  I hope your week is off to a good start and that today will be a good day for you.

You may remember that I recently posted a recipe that featured Rice Krispies.  (Those wonderful cheese wafers that I don't need to have around).:-)  It isn't often that I buy a box of Rice Krispies, so I try to find a reason to use them in other ways.  The following recipe is one I have used several times in the past.  It was clipped from the newspaper sometime in the past ten years, but I didn't write a date on it.

SPIDERWEB MUNCH

2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) semi-sweet chocolate chips (morsels)
1 cup creamy peanut butter, divided
1/3 cup powdered sugar
3 cups toasted rice cereal
- Heat morsels and 3/4 cup peanut butter in small, heavy-duty saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth; remove from heat.  Add sugar; stir vigorously until smooth.
-Place cereal in large bowl.  Add 1 cup chocolate mixture; stir until evenly coated.  Place on ungreased baking sheet.  (I used a pizza-size aluminum foil pan).  Using small metal spatula, shape into 10-inch circle with slightly raised 1-inch-wide border Pour remaining chocolate mixture in center of circle; spread to border.
- Place remaining peanut butter in small, heavy-duty plastic bag.  Cut tiny corner from bag; squeeze to pipe concentric circles on top of chocolate.  Using wooden pick or tip of sharp knife, pull tip through peanut butter from center to border.  Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until firm.  Cut into wedges.  Makes 12 to 16 servings.  To trim it up for this season, add a plastic spider!

Rice Krispie base, ready to spread that melted chocolate.

I forgot to take a picture of mine before it left the house.:-(  This is the way it would look perfectly done.

When I make this for the Munchkins, I use almond butter.  It is just as good!:-)

Thank you for reading.  I really appreciate your comments.

  7. LOVE the look! And goodness, you had a fabulous weekend in weather here while I was in Charlotte. Katie said she wishes I had made the heat higher than 68 though. Pet sitter said she was hugging the warm air vent.
