First things first....

Happy Thursday to you!  How is your week going?  Have you been able to take some time for yourself to enjoy the beauty of this season?

Before sitting anything else out to decorate, the Nativity set is first put in place.

The figures are all white.

I like to display the set first since this shows what this season is really all about.  I have had it a number of years.  It was done by an employee at the local high school even before our oldest daughter was a student there, and she graduated in 1991!  I bought it at a craft fair where other ceramic items were displayed.  I have two other things from the lady, and they may have been on the blog before.  I use a ceramic turkey at Thanksgiving, and a large orange pumpkin is out from October through November.

It must have been a rare sunny day when I took this picture!  I apologize for the glare on the left side.  It is difficult to see the innkeeper and the shepherd. :-(

While the top picture is in the living room, there is something else waiting in the sunroom.

Time for tea and cookies!

Well, just like I said - "First things first!"  It looks like there are no cookies on the tray!  That is what will be keeping me busy today!

The teapot is Noel by Salem, and the cream pitcher, sugar bowl, and trays are designed by Susan Branch!

One more reminder!  Tonight at 8:00 EST, the winner of this giveaway will be chosen.

A year's subscription!

Just leave a comment telling me if you have watched Martha on television, and if you think you would ever make your own ice cream cones!

Thank you for reading.  I really appreciate your comments.

  2. Nellie, I like your nativity. I need to dig mine out...it's made up of little people. I might use a pizella cookie to make a small cone...but make my own, seems too much work...so I would probably just eat out of a bowl.:):) Take care and stay warm. xoxo,Susie

  3. Your nativity is just gorgeous, Nellie. That was quite a buy all those years ago.

Love your sweet little cookie set up. Susan Branch is one of my favorites.

Hope you have a great day- xo Diana

  4. Good Morning Nellie,
What a lovely Nativity set. I am behind visiting, our internet has been down. So I am behind.
Your dishes are wonderful. I don't have any Christmas dishes.
Stay warm. I have to try that slow cooker meatloaf.
    Have a nice day

  5. This is all very lovely, and I'm sure whatever cookies you choose to put on that place will be delicious! I always love Nativity sets, and I have several that I have picked up at various places, but none that were handmade by someone so talented. I don't blame you for keeping it all these years, and I'm sure your daughters appreciate the history behind it as well. Have a wonderful afternoon! Lovin' this sunshine! :-)

  6. Nellie, the nativity and the memories that belong to it are indeed special. The Susan Branch items are a rarity; you're quite fortunate to have them...I should be so lucky! As for watching Martha, I used to years ago; but we no longer have access to the stations that broadcast her show. Would enjoy receiving her magazine!

    Happy Holidays,

  8. I have watched Martha only on YouTube. But making my own cones is just the sort of thing I might do. I used to make my own graham crackers :-) And I love MS magazine! Reading them has always revealed to me that I am also creative and can do things to make my world beautiful.
I like your extensive nativity set. Every Christmas I shop around a little bit, trying to find another set, to put I-don't-know-where!

  11. Love your nativity. I made ours in a ceramics class over 20 years ago. but baby Jesus doesn't go in until Christmas morning.

I love the old Martha shows and even have her holiday cd's. Making my own ice cream cones? Well if I had the time - maybe. i do like to make things from scratch!

    Merry Christmas!
