The week-end - and that promised give-away!

Happy Monday to you!  How many of you have snow and ice this morning?  We have just had lots and lots of rain here - probably three inches.

I mentioned in Saturday's post that this was a big UMW week-end.  It was time for "Breakfast With Santa!"  The ticket limit is set at 300, and were sold out a couple of weeks before the event.  My help began on Friday afternoon when I joined the group in the kitchen preparing the sausage that would be served with the pancakes on Saturday morning.  We did pans and pans of sausage!   We have eased the process by baking the patties in the oven, quite simpler than the former method of frying.  As I helped on Friday afternoon, I did not return for "duty" on Saturday.

On Friday afternoon, I took a few pictures to show some of the preparations.

Tables ready for seating.

My Circle had this booth.

This is where Santa sat.

Some of the setting for the pictures with Santa.

There was more to the week-end, of course, and that will be the subject of another post.

Now - to the giveaway.

A year's subscription to this magazine!

On Friday, December 13, I will announce the winner of a year's subscription to Martha Stewart's "Living!"  In order to qualify for the drawing, all you have to do is to leave a comment on the blog between today and Thursday.  Just let me know if you have ever watched any of Martha's programs.  Today she even made homemade ice cream cones!  Would you ever make your own ice cream cones?

Thank you for reading.  I really appreciate your comments.

  1. The decor for that breakfast is really cheery, and I'm sure everyone had a great time Saturday morning!

No, I have never made my own ice cream cones, but I used to work at a yogurt shop where we made those wonderful waffle cones all the time, and they were scrumptious!! I have seen Martha's program, but it's been a very long time since I last watched her.

Very dampish here, but we're thankful the temp is high enough to prevent ice! Have a wonderful day!

  5. Please enter me in your contest too. I always watched her TV program, up until about a year ago. For some reason, all the programming changes on the station where I saw her, and I haven't been able to find her since that time. Very pretty decorations.

  6. Make my own ice cream cones? Moi? I don't think so. I'm about as far the opposite of Martha Stewart as one can get. One of the bloggers that makes her own soda crackers blew my mind! Not that I would mind being a domestic diva!

  8. What a wonderful bunch of decorations. It looks like you have been so busy. Please enter me into your giveaway. My favorite Martha shows are when she has chickens on or shows her chickens houses. Of course you knew that right? :) Please enter me in for your very, very sweet giveaway Nellie.

  9. I love your Santa decorations and I am so glad that all 300 tickets sold out beforehand.
I won't sign up for the magazine giveaway because I get my daughter's copy when she is done with it. I have watched her program many times in the past. I would NOT make my own ice cream cones though. xo Diana

  11. I love Mr. and Mrs. Snowman. Great giveaway and I've got one going, too, for a book. I've watched the show and had the fun of being in the audience. I especially liked the craft area they had set up I subscribe to the magazine, so I'll skip entering the giveaway.

  13. Hi Nellie

    What a nice give away!

I'm sure the breakfast with Santa was a big success! This is a fun idea.

I do like Martha and once went to a couple of tapings of her TV show. She was very pleasant and gracious off camera and treated us to freshly made scones.

I bought a small cone shaping device this winter, so someday I do hope to make mini ice cream cones with it for my grtanschildren ;)

  14. Your "Breakfast With Santa!" looks like it was a huge success. Love all the festive decorations. Josie would have LOVED that. You don't need to enter my name in the give-away. My mother takes good care of me and renews my Martha subscription each birthday. Smile.
