This day....

On this day, Christians around the world are focused on the meaning of the cross.  All seemed dark and hopeless for those early followers when Christ was crucified.

Through the years, I have sung the following hymn many times.   Never was it more moving than when I sang in the college choir, under a superb director, many years ago.   Only the first verse is listed here.

                   "When I survey the wondrous cross

                           On which the Prince of Glory died,

                     My richest gain I count but loss,

                           And pour contempt on all my pride."

                                                                    - Isaac Watts, 1707

    I also appreciate this great hymn. We have so much to be thankful for, because God loved us SO much that He sent His only begotten Son to pay the price for our sins. Have a blessed Good Friday, dear Sister!

    Have a blessed Holy Friday Nellie.
    It's always bitter sweet to me. I'm always sad on this Holy day but at the same time I'm so grateful that Jesus dies on the cross because of his love for us.

    I adore this hymn (also in my current post, but a different version!!!!)- but for me, it's the last verse that really hits- Love so amazing, so divine, demands my life, my soul, my all. x
