More of spring....

Happy Monday to everyone!  Did you have a good week-end?

I, for one, have been happy that this spring has been "late."  The lovely blooms on the dogwood trees have lasted through the month, and our fruit trees have done nicely with their blooms.  I have already shown some pictures of those trees blooming, so today I want to share a few other things around here.

Columbine

Berries on the holly

More columbine

Azaleas

Strawberries!

Snowball bush

Dandelions, of course.:-)

Do you know what this is?

The week-end brought us over four inches of rain in our rain gauge.  Our area has received more than 11 inches above our average rainfall for this point in the year.  Needless to say, the spot for the vegetable garden is definitely too wet to plow!  We have no idea when we will be able to plant the vegetable garden.

Thank you for reading.  I really appreciate your comments.

  5. Love the columbine, the same color as mine is. You are a bit further along than we are, and I think a bit more rain, too. We are still too wet to do anything. Things are coming up and the tulips are just now in full bloom. I haven't checked the iris for shoots yet, but they should be next along with the peonies. By then, we should have the veggies in and annuals. Who knows with this year, though. Cooler is going to be better later this summer.

  8. Hi Nellie, We have the opposite problem up here. We have had so much cold weather in March and April that our blooms are not nearly as pretty this year. Our Redbuds and our Pink Dogwood didn't bloom too much at all. The Azaleas haven't bloomed yet --so I'm not sure what they will do. We lost a few roses due to the weather... Glad your weather down there has been better.

How'bout that weekend rain??? Unbelievable. Think we had 6 inches up here... Nice to see the sun trying to come out today!!!

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  9. Well, that bottom plant looks like what we used to call mustard when we were growing up. Not the greens, though, because nobody ever picked them and tried to cook them, so I'm not sure. I'll have to let you tell me what it is! Sunshine does look beautiful today after our wet weekend, and we're enjoying it a lot! Have a great afternoon, Sister!

  11. We had a horribly stormy, deluge of rain on Saturday to Sunday morning, with hail. It was downright scary.

Everything at your place looks so nice and bloomy!

I think we all are enjoying this spring more than ever. Maybe it's because it seems like we've waited longer for this one. : )
