About that week-end....

The last post left you at Friday evening.  Of one thing I am certain - late nights and I do not get along well anymore.:-)  By the time we made the hour's drive back home, it was well past our usual bedtime.

Saturday was a very busy day.  I spent the time in the kitchen preparing some food ahead of time since we were expecting company to come on Sunday.  I always like to have a lot done so I don't have to spend much time with food prep once they are here.  Oh - "they" were Munchomom (aka cafecarol) and family, plus the Country Couple family.  We knew the Muncho family would be staying overnight on Sunday, but weren't sure when the Country Couple would be able to come.

So - I just forgot all about taking pictures.  I was working furiously from one thing to another - potato salad, green pea salad, tuna-macaroni salad, apricot gelatin salad, chocolate cake and cupcakes, fresh salad greens washed and dried, whole wheat rolls baked, pimento cheese spread made, and other plans made!  I put a ham in the slow cooker overnight on Saturday night, and a turkey breast in the slow cooker on Sunday morning.  The ham was chilled for lunchtime on Monday, and the turkey was ready to serve for dinner on Sunday evening.  Oh - can't forget that homemade strawberry ice cream!:-)

Anyway, the Muncho family came a little after 4:00 on Sunday afternoon.  The Country Couple family came on Monday morning.  We had a fast-paced time with everyone and rather collapsed when everyone left early on Monday afternoon!

The women's chorus had the final performance for the season yesterday!  We worked in nine appearances this time around.  There will be some time off now before rehearsals begin again.

One thing I have left out is that The Husband was finally able to plant some things in the garden!  Here is a picture!

Sweet potatoes!

Sweet potatoes seem to grow well in our soil, so we are hopeful for a good crop.

That's it for today.

Thank you for reading.  I really appreciate your comments.

  3. Well, now I am worn out already! You certainly did have a whirlwind weekend, and you were very wise to have food prepared ahead of time. I'm sure everyone enjoyed all that you did, especially a certain Munchkin who loves that apricot gelatin salad. :-) I'm so glad that my hubby and I were able to see your group perform last week. It's a great sound you all have, and your director does a marvelous job of making the programs fun for everyone, including the audience. Have a peaceful day today, dear Sister!

  7. Glad you got to see those travelers this weekend and that you were able to provide a feast for them. Time flies on weekends like that, doesn't it? Good times with good people cannot be beat. That ice cream sounds good, one of the things I miss most. Glad you are getting something planted there!
Congrats on another season finished with the chorus group. How are you ever going to spend your time off?
Have a good rest of the week and hope this next weekend isn't so busy for you and you can get some rest in.

  8. If everyone could schedule their plans for the nighttime, it would suit me fine. I'm a night person and don't do well in the daytime. And I wouldn't be able to keep up with you at ANYTIME. LOL!

  9. Nice sweet potatoes. I've always wanted to plant some but never did. I eat lots of sweet potatoes. They are so good.

You deserve a good rest now with all that you did to feed those people. I'm glad that you had a great time.
I'm like you and I don't get enough sleep. Now my eyes are all baggy because of the stupid noisy bird chirping by my bedroom window in the wee hours of the morning.

    Hugs,
    JB
