My very favorite way to begin setting the mood for the season is to review this book - Christmas Joy - by Susan Branch.
Ideas for "decking the halls" are especially helpful. Thank you, Susan!
Another book that is well-loved by many in our family is this one:
Some gllimpses inside follow.
Tolkien fans are sure to enjoy this one!
Take some time for a reading break! I always feel refreshed when I do!
Those look like some really good books! I enjoy reading the "Stories from the Heart" series, and the Christmas Stories from the Heart are especially heartwarming. I need to get that book out again and make a special effort to do some reading, since the stories are short and the book is easy to put down when time is short. Have a fabulous Friday, Sister!
ReplyDeleteLooks like some great illustrations in the Tolkien book.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to imagine you sitting still and reading, you are always so busy! LOL!
ReplyDeleteDidn't you think that once you retired you would have hours and hours and days and days to sit and read? lol Yeah! Me too!!!! xo
ReplyDeleteLove Susan's Christmas book so much!... I have been enjoying it too... Merry Christmas to you dear Nellie!... xoxo... Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteNellie, When ever I buy at book at the library sale table for the grands, I read it first. I still love to read kid books. Susan Branch warms my heart. I adore her blog and her drawings. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

I have the Susan branch book. It is relaxing to scim through the pages of a book like that. Cookbooks with pictures or history in them are my favorite.

ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of the Tolkien one. I love the Susan Branch one and was thinking of it rereading it today. :)
