Last week-end in Louisville, Kentucky, it was all about the United Methodist Women! This week, it has been all about the horses!
Louisville is home to Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby! In 1972, The Husband was working in Lexington for a few weeks, and he was given two tickets to the Derby! Without hesitation, I drove to Kentucky for the week-end, and off we went! It was really exciting! I wish I could tell you the horse that won that day, but that bit of information escapes me.
Have you noticed the names of the horses that will be running in the race this year? Some of them are rather long! Regardless, we plan to be watching when the race is run on NBC later today.
Here is something that was missing from my post earlier in the week.
Trillium! |
Thanks to Country Man for helping point out the blooms! |
The Husband has been helping the Country Couple with some clearing that needs to be done on the property. A reward for their work on Thursday was some fishing in the pond!
Sending along wishes for a wonderful week-end to all!
Thank you for reading. I really appreciate your comments.
How ironic I just wrote in your previous post asking if you were going to watch the Derby today and then I see this post. That answers my question!! It's like a holiday here in KY :)
ReplyDeleteGood morning! Nothing special happening here today, and that's fine with me! These days, I really enjoy peace and quiet!
ReplyDeleteThe Country Couple really has an exciting time ahead as they clear their property and prepare to build a marvelous house!
I hope your day will be a good one, and that "your" favorite horse will win the Derby. Love you, Sister!
Love seeing new growth..Are you sure that is a Trillium?
ReplyDeleteNot sure.. have to wait to see ours again:)
It's so slooooow in coming..the warmth and sun this yr!
We were in town for the Kentucky Derby many years ago, too. What an exciting time.
ReplyDeleteLove the trilliums and glad hubby is able to help out with clearing.

Nellie, did you see my dentist at the races??? He worked on me on Thursday and said he and his wife were going to the Derby with some friends. I have been once and lost all my 20 dollars.:) Hope you enjoyed it. I love the beautiful horses. Your husband must be a good gardener. Blessings for a great weekend.xo,Susie
ReplyDeleteIt's exciting seeing some blooming wild flowers that found it's way in God's big garden.

It's been a few years since I've watched the Derby but Emma and I used to enjoy watching all the ladies and their fancy hats. I'm behind on blog reading with all our weekend's festivities. I can't believe it's Monday already!
