For today....

Happy Friday morning to you!  Are you looking forward to the week-end?

For this day, there is a different kind of book I want to share with you.

Have you heard of this one?

I actually bought this book several months ago, but had not tried to bake anything from it.  Finally, one day recently, I tried the first recipe.

The bread dough with the first quarter ready for a loaf.

The dough was not complicated to mix, and it will keep in the refrigerator for several days.

The baked loaf.

I will be baking more from the book before I find a recipe that I want to share, however.  The Husband likes this bread, though it is a bit different from any I have baked before.  This is baked on a preheated baking stone!

Collecting cookbooks has been a weakness of mine that I have attempted to control in recent years.:-)  Sometimes I do better at that than others.:-)

Thank you for reading.  I really appreciate your comments.

  2. Oh, I can just smell that fresh bread, and I have a stick of butter softening in the kitchen! You are a really good bread baker, and I'm quite sure this one is a winner. Of course, you have not seen my vast collection of cook books, as I still have some of them in a box, left from our move here in 1999!! Maybe this is a genetic thing?? :-) Have a fabulous Friday, Sister!

  3. Fresh baked bread makes a welcoming scent in the house.
I have the same weakness as you and I bought so many cookbooks from the thrift stores. I'am more selective now since I'm trying real hard to control this habit and eat healthier.

    Happy weekend
    Hugs,

  13. The smell of baking bread is ALMOST as good as eating it.
I've baked bread on a stone before. We make our pizza on a stone too.

  14. I have the same addiction Nellie. I have tons of cookbooks. I especially love the ones that have history in them about the recipe or the area the recipe came from.
