Time....

Friday is here!  Has it seemed like a quickly passing week for you?  Perhaps time seems to pass more quickly when we are enjoying what we are doing.

While it has been a very busy time around here the past several weeks, I have been able to work in some time for reading.

From the 2014 United Methodist Women Reading List!

There are four plans included in the UMW Reading Program - Education for Mission, Leadership Development, Social Action, Nurturing for Community, and Spiritual Growth.  To complete Plan I, one must read one book from each category, plus read the Response magazine, published monthly.  I have read the three books shown above this year.  Grace and Grit, by Lilly Leadbetter is from the Leadership Development category, and Awake by Noel Brewer Yeatts is from the Education for Mission category.  A Twist of Faith, by John Donnelly is a Bonus Book.  It may be counted as two books in the Mission category or as one in Mission and one in Social Action.

Last week, at UMW Assembly in Louisville, Kentucky, the Program Resource area was available for shopping for books and materials.  I found that I had to make more than one trip!:-)

Then there are others....

I have also found time to read some other books this year, some of which are pictured above.  I became interested in reading The Reckoning, the third book in the series, after watching the movies of the first two on the Hallmark Channel in December.  A Star for Mrs. Blake was a reading selection in an issue of Good Housekeeping, and One Day was a recommendation in another article I had read.

Reading has always been a favorite pasttime of mine, though I sometimes find that this computer screen is what I'm spending most of my time reading.:-)

The week-end is ahead!  I hope there is something enjoyable planned for you!

Thank you for reading.  I really appreciate your comments.

  1. Happy Friday, Sister! You know that I have to make myself stay out of bookstores, just because I am always finding something that I simply MUST have! I will pass a book and think of someone who would enjoy it, and it seems that I know too many people! LOL Have a wonderful day, whatever you have planned. :-)

  6. I remember the UMW Reading Program --and always thought it was good... I have never been much of a reader (other than things I'm interested in such as health issues or Genealogy, etc.)--but I always completed Plan I in the Reading Program.

    Have a good weekend.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  7. I don't know WHERE you found the time for writing, Nellie, but I am glad you did. I have a new book going, too. I just finished Maeve Binchy's last book-published posthumously. So sad to see the end to her writings all set in Ireland-a true story teller and not a sex scene in any of them...something anyone can read.

Hope you have a good night- xo Diana

  8. I enjoy reading too, and read every day. How nice to have a church program that suggests books for you. I write short reviews of books that we post in our church bookstore.
I have written two books, so you can see I love books.
