New "kid" in town....

Have you ever been to Costo?  Do you have one located near you?  Well, one opened in our area the beginning of November.  Of course, the crowds arrived on opening day - and seem to have continued.  At least, everytime I pass the parking lot is full!

A few empty spaces.

On Tuesday afternoon, I decided to "brave the crowds" and make my first entry into a Costco store!  As you can see from the picture, there were a few empty parking spaces, so I took that as a good sign.

The store is very large, with really nice large aisles, very clean and well-organized.  I had thought I would just spend about a half-hour walking through the store.  Well, an hour later I was still walking!

I went up and down most of the aisles, just to see what kind of merchandise was available.  I counted that as my walking for the day.:-)  I really did very little stopping to look at things.  Since Costco is a warehouse-type store, it is not the place I would return to shop frequently.

Wednesday morning's sun soon gave way to some clouds and some random raindrops.  The days ahead are supposed to be nice ones, though.

Thank you for reading.  I appreciate your comments.

  2. This Costco will not be close enough to present much temptation for me, especially since I have little need of large quantities of items. I used to enjoy a membership at Sam's Club, but no longer even need that, since the children are now gone from our home. Those children do enjoy the warehouse stores near them, though, especially the prices on gasoline! Have a wonderful day, weather or not! :-)

  3. Costco is a great place for you to shop for feeding the seniors in your town. I love to go there, only occasionally, as I live alone and have no space to store things. But I always buy the paper towels, toilet paper, water (when there is a storm coming), chicken cutlets. Worth a trip to really peruse what you use all the time and can store easily. Their gas is the lowest priced one where I live so I go there for that, too. xo

  5. Fantastic photo, btw. :-)))

Now since I am never satisfied, how about giving us about 5 photos, to each post? ,-) Awwwww come on! Look at all the crazy stuff, I notice, and photograph!!!!!!!!

There are Photo Ops all over! We just have to learn to notice them.

How about where the sun shines into your house???? What does it look like, on things? Or if it's raining, how about a pic of the rain on the window. From the inside of course.

    :-))))))))))))))))

You know "Auntie"! Full of ideas! :-))))) Come on. Humor me. Please!

  6. A new Costco opened a few miles from here a couple of months ago. I was a member of Sam's Club until I moved here. It is located in Peoria, not a place that is easy for me to get to. I am planning on visiting Costco soon now that the first rush is over.

  7. Sam's is closer to me but I've been to a Costco also. Lots of walking and lots of BIG packages. We buy a few items there but not really a lot.

  8. I've never lived near a Costco--but have heard good things about it. We belong to Sam's and like it --but my son says that Costco is better than Sam's.... Hope you enjoy it.
    Hugs,

  10. We love our Costco...especially for hosting our big Halloween party. I've found some amazing deals on DVDs and books too. A fun place to wander.

  11. We have a Sam's Club. We do not buy enough to justify paying for a membership. So we do not go there any more. There is a Costco south of here, but the traffic keeps me from there. Who needs the stress:):)Hope you had a good day. xo,Susie

  13. We have two of them quite near our house but don't shop there. We go to BJ's which is just like a Costco and we go quite often.

  14. I was there just a week ago. To be very honest it's not good for me to go often, because I start to covet. I think I need diamond earrings and a big, big television and a new phone, when I certainly don't need all of those things. I've really cut down on shopping and Costco -- no fault of theirs -- brings out the "acquirer" in me. I did buy a new kitchen mat, a package of frozen dinners and yogurt.

  15. I've belonged to Costco for about 15 yrs. and there are 3 of them within 5 miles of me now. When I was younger and still "needing" things for the house they were handy. Since the economy went bust they really cut back on what they carry and half the square footage is empty They are always rearranging the tables to try and make the store look full. I used them to buy gas & get my prescriptions. I think next yr. I will not renew because the $55 membership is not worth what I might save on gas. If you know your prices, the vast majority of bluk items are actually more than if I buy it at the grocery store on sale. Over the years I have thrown away a lot of food items that I had convinced myself I would use or share with family. The best deal for me is to skip the membership & hitch a ride with friends or family when they are going and just use cash to pay. This way the 1st $55 I spend will be like free - right?

  16. There is a Costco about a half hour from me. Lots of my friends love it. I have been inside. Its a madhouse and it drives me insane. I am so stressed and frustrated when I leave. I think it might be goos if you have a large family but its not for me.
