The 2013 Prayer Calendar for United Methodist Women lists the Nome Community Center, Nome, Alaska as the mission focus for the day.
Today is also the First Sunday after Epiphany, observed by many churches as symbolic of the Baptism of the Lord. Luke 2:22 begins the account of Simeon blessing the baby Jesus.
Joan Walsh Anglund has been a favorite author for many through the years. I am fortunate to have been given several of her little books. One that I have enjoyed is "The Circle of the Spirit," and I want to share something she has written in that book.
"Only the open gate
can receive
visitors.
Only the open hand
can receive
gifts.
Only the open mind
can receive
wisdom.
Only the open heart
can receive
love."
May your Sunday be filled with good blessings.
I've always enjoyed Joan Walsh Anglund's work. Thanks for sharing!
