Hanging around....

Holding up the books.

Standing guard over the dictionary!

Even one in a framed picture.
 .
Waiting and watching.

Giving some spirit on top of the pie safe.

Oops! Almost lost his head.

Haven't even had any snow here to build one of these!
I am composing this post on Thursday evening and scheduling it to publish on Friday morning. An ice storm has been predicted here overnight, and we could be faced with a covering of ice on Friday morning.  Local schools have already announced they will be closed, and trucks have been on the roadways spreading a brine solution to slow down the formation of ice on the roads.  Ice concerns me because of the possibility of it coating power lines and trees, increasing the chances for a power outage.  I would definitely rather have snow than ice!

In the meantime, I took some pictures of things "hanging around" the house.  Well, some of you have wondered how I am getting along with the new computer.  I am leaving this post the way it is so you will see that THIS experience was a bit annoying!:-)  Not good cooperation with loading my pictures properly this time.:-(  This little guy is in the desired place, but the pictures above were supposed to have been below him.  There is the unexpected skittering about of the cursor that is a "test" of my patience.  When that occurs, strange things have been known to happen!

Just hanging around.

So, this post is a tribute to the snowman, unseen in our area thus far this winter.  You have probably seen most of them earlier when I lined them all up on the mantle for their first picture of the season.

One more week of January, and I still have some January pictures to share.  Stay tuned for the next post!

Thank you for reading.  I appreciate your comments.

  1. I love snowmen, and yours are all just adorable! It's strange how that snow came in last week. The snowman that our neighbors built is still standing, even after a week of bright sunshine and temps in the 40s. He is a bit slimmer than he was originally, but he's still there! So far, we have ice on the sidewalk, but the road seems to be pretty clear. We are also hoping our power does not go out, but time will tell. Have a great day!

  11. I love the one that looks like he's melting! That's cute!

I know it's hard to believe, but it's 77 degrees here and very pleasant. I'll take that to ice, any day. Stay warm and try to stay off the roads.
