I believe I've mentioned Chili Cook-offs and Dessert contests on the blog before.:-) The Husband and I serve as judges at times. Most recently, however, we were not permitted to be judges because we were entered in the competition!
Too much light.:-( |
The dessert! |
You have probably heard of this "delicacy" before. They are made from a 1# package of Oreo cookies, crumbled in the food processor, and one 8-ounce package of cream cheese, softened. After mixing these two ingredients together, chill the mixture for an hour or so. This will simplify the process of shaping into balls. Then, it will be a good idea to place them in the freezer for another hour or so. That will make it easier to coat them with the melted chocolate. Whatever kind of chocolate you find on the super market shelves is what you will have to use. While my package indicated it was "melting chocolate," it would have helped had it flowed onto the bon bons more easily. It almost became a sculpting process! Anyway, they are really tasty and just about melt in your mouth!
I was in a rush to take the picture of our table. It was almost time to begin serving, and I needed to be sure to be out of the way behind the table.:-)
Trying to be festive.:-) |
Oh, yes. In the background is the crutch I have been using to hobble around.:-) I am happy to report that my ankle is recovering! I don't think there will be any complications with it, thankfully!
Are you ready for Halloween? Some of you have already had great parties! No parties on the calendar around here, though there are some "trimmings" I will share with you next.
Thank you for reading. I really enjoy your comments.
Nellie, It all sounds so good and like lots of fun. It is for a worthy cause also. No wonder you won a trophy. Smiles, Susie

Congratulations on your trophy! Your bon bons look so yummy. What a fun treat. I'm thinking they would be fun for any holiday gathering.
ReplyDeleteOh, I have had those treats, and they are SO habit-forming! Happy you won that lovely trophy, and I hope LOTS of money was raised for the camp, which is a most popular place for young people, and even some adult retreats. I'll bet you chili was wonderful, also, but it's just hard to know what the judges are looking for with that concoction. Thank you for sharing your recipe for those Oreo Bon Bons!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations~ I am not at all surprised that you won!!! I have never heard of that oreo recipe before. It sounds decadent...but oh-so-good! I am glad your ankle is healing- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on winning the award. : )
ReplyDeleteThat dessert looks delicious!!
The Oreo Bon Bons look so delicious... If you have time, please write down specific instructions (recipe) and send it to me in an email... I read what you wrote--but need a little more specifics. I want to send it to my son --who loves to cook with his young daughter... Thanks so much.
