The big news….

 ….where we are is SNOW!

We rarely have much snow in our area, the best some flurries or enough for a bare ground cover.  This is one of those very unusual occasions for more than just a simple ground cover!

This was the view from our front door on Monday morning about 7:30 a.m.

About the middle of the day on Monday, we had this view.

This morning, Tuesday, this is the view out the bedroom window.  The bird bath looks like a giant ice cream cone to me!
This is our view from the front door.  We haven’t been outside to attempt to measure it, though nearby friends have measured and report eight inches!  The wind chill is enough to convince us to stay indoors where it’s warm.  We have all we need, and we are grateful there has been no power outage at this point.

Do you have snow where you are?  Stay safe and warm!

  1. I look out my study window and it's snowing as I type. We've had snow and very cold weather the last couple of weeks. Thankfully we've had no power outages, and so we've been safe and warm tucked inside. Stay cozy, Nellie.

  2. Hi Nellie. So you have snow? Isn't that something? We usually have tons and tons of the white stuff. I usually see "ice cream" birdbaths by the dozens. ha ha So far, this has been a mild winter. However, snow fell last night and there was wind, too, which makes it worse. It's very cold out, too. It was 24 degrees on the dashboard of my car enroute to the supermarket today. The roads were not too shipshape so I was VERY GLAD to get blessedly home. Such is winter in New England. Enjoy the snow!

  3. Hi Nellie. Here in Maryland we finally had our first real snow this winter. It looks to be about 6 inches for us with temperatures in the 20s all day. I'm glad we got out to the grocery store and are set for the week now so my husband doesn't have to plow our steep driveway. We'll just wait for it to melt! It's supposed to get up to 50 nice week!

  4. Very pretty photos of your snowfall, Nellie! We have snow as well, but only 3 or 4 inches. Enough to make everything look beautiful. Glad to hear you are enjoying it all from the warmth of your home. Stay warm and cozy, my friend!

  5. You finally got some decent snow. Is it snowing here? Oh yes, and had been all month, just about every day. Probably 2 feet or so.

  6. Well, Sister, on our side of town I'm not sure how deep our snow has been, and I definitely haven't been outside to check it! I'm sure your sweet daughter or her kiddos have given you the lowdown. I'm laying low myself, thankful for good heat and praying our electricity stays on. Stay warm out there, and don't worry about the birdbath....those feathered friends somehow manage when we can't. Love you!

  7. Oh, you got some snow! Yes, we have snow in my area, and we got a good amount of it last week. It's so pretty, but it's been very cold as well. Stay warm, Nellie. I hope the new year has been good to you.

  8. No snow here and pretty though it is I am glad we dont! Once, I longed for snow, but no longer. Longing for Spring and warmer days as I shiver with a boiler that struggles!

  9. Oh- yes--the snow. We have about 24" in the last couple of days and we are below zero F. We have snow on our roads with ice underneath. Thank God for 4WD-but even that doesn't work on ice.
Stay safe and I hope we all get warmer weather soon. xo Diana

  12. You had much more snow than we did. It's cold these days, but I won't complain as long as it's not icy! Take care, my friend.
