Serenade....

It was quite a serenade from the mockingbird earlier while I was picking his blueberries.😊

Attempt at creativity....

It appears that my attempt to be creative with the last post just didn't go well.:-(  I had found the cutest little emoticons to go along with the theme for our women's chorus program - the sun, the moon, and the stars!  Also, there were some music notes and symbols.  At any rate, I had hoped to create a little more interest by including them, so there is more for me to learn about how to put them on the blog!

It's Friday, and the week-end is eminent!  Have a great one!

Touring season....

....is well-underway!  The women's chorus has performed six times, with three more scheduled!  If you see a group of ladies in this attire -

....just ask them to sing for you! 🎼🎢. 🌞 πŸŒ™ 🌟 We are all about the sun, moon, and stars for this summer program!

A record....

I believe it is official.  A new record high temperature for our area was set on Monday - 97 degrees! Summer must really be here!

Here is another good recipe for a summer day.

It also made the trip to the church covered-dish luncheon, and there were some leftovers to bring back home.

It is a Weight Watchers recipe, and we have enjoyed it several times for the past few years.

Rather than the capellini, I substituted rice "spaghetti" pasta with no real difference in the flavor of the dish.

It could be another record-setting day today, so once again, staying cool and keeping hydrated are in order!

Keeping it cool....

What is better for a dessert on a hot summer day than something cool?

Try this!

I used french vanilla pudding for an increased flavor.  Also, no Cool Whip in this one!  Have you read the ingredients label on that product?  I whipped up whipping cream instead.  In my never-ceassing quest to bring no high fructose corn syrup over our doorstep, I used Back to Nature Madagascar Vanilla wafers.

This went to a covered-dish luncheon we had after our church service on Sunday.  A couple of servings now remain.:-)

The order of the day here is to stay cool and hydrated!  Off to a busy Monday!

Will we share?

The birds definitely do enjoy the berries we have in our backyard.  Without a doubt, they will get their share.  They will not, however, get these -

This is the earliest we have had blueberries and blackberries ready for picking!  Yay!  Time for muffins and pie!

A reminder - tomorrow is Flag Day!

The "bird feeder...."

For a few years, we have "given" the cherry tree to the birds, providing a "bird feeder."

That will be no more.:-(  Sadly, the cherry tree will have to be cut down.  The birds will be sad, as we are.

A "new" tree....

The Sassasfras tree has offered good support for the grape vines!  It looks like a good year for our few grape vines!

If you plant it....

....it will grow.

Assorted melon seeds!  The Husband is using up leftover seeds this season, and he isn't sure what these will become. :-)

We do know that these are green beans!  Radishes are to the right of the picture, and sweet potatoes are on the left.  Mr. Rabbit has left these alone!

A letter....

Dear Bunny Rabbit,

You are cute as you hop across our back yard.  You were even cute when we watched you taking a
dust bath in our new strawberry patch.  However, you were not cute when you began nibbling on the sweet potato plants - AND - the new strawberry plants!  Didn't you know that The Husband put this in place to tell you to stay away?

Isn't it working?

Well, it is our wish for you to just keep hopping!  NO DETOURS!  We are not in the mood to share things from our garden at this point!  We have left lots of clover for you - and any bees that might appear - to enjoy!

Your "friends,"
The Husband and His Wife

Recently....

Last week there was a Senior Expo held at the local Senior Center.  There was much good information available at all the tables - plus - door prizes!  Look what came home with me!

Deconstructed -

Lots of Lilly Pulitzer goodies!

Beautiful verbena hanging basket!

AND - the GRAND PRIZE!

The grand prize includes a gift card (for shopping!), a car wash gift certificate, and two tickets to see the Lady Vols play basketball next season for the game of my choice!

It was a real shock to have my ticket number read!

I wish you a very good day!

The beginning.....

....of our church picnic on Sunday.  The ending was brought about unexpectedly by an approaching thunderstorm!  The rain has been very welcome!
