In review....

What a week!  Two different snow storms brought us these views -

From Tuesday morning....

....and from Thursday morning!

So - it was a good week to make progress on this -

That's the living room flooring project....

....and this is the project that resulted from thawing what was thought to be whole wheat pizza dough!:-)

Of course, we started the week honoring George Washington with this Cranberry Cherry Cobbler!

Sara McKeefer - if you're reading, I need you to contact me with your mailing address so I will be able to send you Daughters of England!

Enjoy your week-end!

The new season....

....for the Women's Chorus has begun.  The director has once again come  up with some great selections for us to learn.

These will be fun to sing.

My favorite, though, is this one -

Road conditions and illness of several members have kept us from rehearsals the past two weeks.
Hopefully, we will be able to be back on schedule this week.

Unfortunately, we will be proceeding this season without one of our long-time members.  Her passing last week has brought us sadness, and we will honor her memory by singing at her memorial service, as she requested.

The sun is shining here today, and we have those "blue skies!"   No snow in the forecast for the coming week!

Another view....

For a change of pace, I am showing you the view out of our back door this morning.  The previous snow events have shown things out our front door.

We had fresh snow overnight.  The weather people are saying it is officially 4 1/2 inches.  Not much warmth or sunshine today to help with melting, and cold temperatures will be with us overnight.

In the second picture, you may be able to identify the broom corn on the lower left area.  The birds have really been enjoying this during these winter months.  There are a couple of other plants around the yard.

This seems like a good day to continue that reading I've been doing!  Enjoy your Thursday, wherever you are.

Sara McKeever, I will be happy to send you Daughters of England.  Please contact me with your mailing information, and I will get that book in the mail to you!

We love breakfast....

In fact, I believe I can safely say that breakfast is my favorite meal!  Since I have disclosed that bit of information, it will come as no surprise that this is my selection for this Cookbook Wednesday.

Published in 1987, it hasn't been around as long as others that have been featured here.

It is easy to see that there are many interesting selections included in the book.

It is also easy to see that this book has been well-loved!

One of my favorites is this Apple Pancake.  Yum!

This is very tasty, too!

Oops!  Extra dose of love on this page. LOL  The recipe for Baked Doughnuts was a favorite of Country Girl when she was still at home.  In fact, it still is.:-)

Do you enjoy breakfast?  What is a favorite of yours?

Just so you know, I am no longer receiving email notices of comments by Octoberfarm, Brit in Tennessee, or Bee Lady.  I like to respond to your comments, and I've tried to do that under your comment on the blog.

Also, no one has stated a "claim" on this book -

If you are interested in it, just let me know in the comments.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Here we go again....

After some melting of our ice and snow here yesterday, here's the view out our door this morning.

Here in the "sunny South," this is most unusual!  These conditions bring about all sorts of closings in the area, so it appears that this will be a good day for staying indoors!

Still taking requests for the books featured in Monday's post!  I'm checking the comments these days to be sure I don't miss any!

The early bird....

....Well, we all know what is said about the "early bird."  In this case, however, it isn't a worm that is the prize.  It's a book!

We've been "iced in" here for the better part of a week, so what's a person to do?  I've been trying to clear some shelves a bit, and I have the following books that I am offering to three of you!  The first one who leaves a comment preferring one of the books will be the one who will receive it!  I'd really like to send a book to three of you, so - if you comment, only choose ONE of the books.

When you comment, I will reply.  Then you will be able to send me your mailing address confidentially.

I have just noticed that my post for Sunday doesn't show that it was published.  I pre-scheduled it, so there may have been a problem.

Also, for some ridiculous reason, I am not receiving notice when some of you leave comments on the blog.  I do always like to respond to your comments, so if you aren't receiving a response from me, it is because I am not receiving the usual notice of your comments.

It is still icy in spots around the area here, and local schools are not in session for the fifth day due to weather conditions.

I hope you are safe and warm where you are!

In review....

What a week!  Beginning with last Saturday...

...surprised by husband....

....a small Mardi Gras display....

....down our street on Wednesday morning....

....our actual Chinese Beef and Rice - with red pepper rather than green....

....found inside those envelopes!  Very tasty!

Time to read....

....and the view down our street this morning!  There had been some clearing from Wednesday, but now we are back to "square one."

Be safe, wherever you are.

Moving on....

One project is complete -

- and preparations for the next one are beginning.

The Husband is moving on to the living room for that flooring project!  It appears that winter will be long enough here.:-)

The Year of the Sheep/Goat....

Today is the day for Chinese New Year!  I just heard that this is the Year of the Sheep - or the Goat - depending on where you are from.  I will choose the sheep, because I have some of those -

Of course, there must be something special on the menu.

Doesn't this look good?  Thanks to Betty Crocker's Dinner For Two from more than 45 years ago, we have this recipe -

I doubt that mine will resemble the picture.:-)

Perhaps there will be a special gift of money in these envelopes!

Enjoy this Thursday!  We have 3 degrees F here this morning, so we will be hoping to stay warm!

Ideally - Cookbook Wednesday....

Isn't this cover beautiful?

The beautiful pictures continue through the book.

Here is the Table of Contents....

....and this shows the copyright to be 1972!

I must admit that I have never used this cookbook!  I think I must have bought it for the illustrations.

This one looks simple enough.  I assume the mushrooms and pimiento would be drained before being added.

Stuffed Peppers have been a favorite here, though not this version.

This is the recipe for the lovely cake pictured above.

This one sounds interesting.  I wonder how it would work with light mayonnaise.

Then there is this one that reminds me of something that was done when I was still at home.  Did any of you ever chill evaporated milk and then whip it?  I have been buying evaporated skimmed milk for years, though, and the results of the whipping might be very different.  I will let you know the outcome of this one.  It is one that I have marked to try.

I will leave you with this view out the front door this morning.  I should mention that The Husband had this area chipped clear of ice yesterday afternoon.

We are currently having a light snowfall, though the sun is expected to appear around midday.

Stay safe, wherever you are!
