The week-end....

....began with a low temperature of 28 degrees F. here on Saturday morning, and we had our first real frost.

....Also visible in the morning sky at 8:00 was a half-moon!  Sorry.  No pictures.:-(

....Saturday morning found us going to the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast, the first such event for us to ever attend.

....The Vols made a trip to Tuscaloosa to play Alabama on Saturday afternoon.  We were under no illusion that they would return home with a victory.  Final score - Alabama-45, UT-10.  Oh, we watched every minute on TV.:-)

....The World Series is now all even, with at least two more games to play before the winner is declared.  Looks like that will happen in Boston.  We did watch part of the games on TV, but just don't make it awake long enough for them to finish.  So - we are surprised when we read the score in the paper the next morning.

....After Saturday's cold beginning, this morning is 25 degrees warmer!  Not much sun, though.

The week ahead....

I will be baking LOTS of cookies for my Circle to take to an assisted-living center this week.  The Circle will host a Halloween party for the residents.  So - there may be some recipes, plus I will hope to have some pictures.:-)

I send along wishes to you for a good Monday!

Thank you for reading.  I really appreciate your comments.

  1. Good Morning Nellie!! It is a lovely sunny morning here and has warmed up to 36 degrees.
What kind of cookies are you baking?
I predict the World Series will go right down to the wire. I honestly think the luckiest team will win. LOL
I hope your week is a good one.

  4. Yes, we did have a strange weekend with the cold temps, and today is supposed to hold a few showers at some point, but I have no reason to leave home, so I'll just wait and see what happens. Happy Monday to you, and enjoy your baking, whenever you start on those cookies! :-)

  5. It's warming up here now (much to my chagrin). Sorry about your Vols. My Wildcats lost them them 45-7 two weeks ago. At least basketball season starts soon!!

  7. Nellie, Pancake breakfast sounds good. Actually, I don't like pancakes...but love waffles...go figure. I think it's because when times were extremely hard growing up....we ate a lots of pancakes with molasses...yuck. It just kept us from starving.LOL Your house is going to smell so good baking cookies. xoxo,Susie

  9. Well---we won't talk about that ballgame on Saturday!!!!! ha ha

We had a freeze up here for about 3 nights--and lost some of our Vinca and Roses (which got 'nipped')... BUT--this week looks much warmer.

I'm sure the residents at the assisted living center will enjoy those cookies. I know that I WOULD... ha

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  11. Sounds like you have had a busy time Nellie and more happening this week!
Hope winter weather does not come too soon. No doubt you will be baking some delicious dishes when the weather does turn really cold.
Keep up your good works. I'm sure it is greatly appreciated.
