Time to read....

At this time of year, I enjoy bringing these books out of hiding (that means from the back of the shelf) and featuring them in a basket where they will be easy to find.

Books by Bill Martin, Jr.

Bill Martin, Jr. was in our town a number of years ago, and I was fortunate to have him autograph these books.

I like the illustrations, too!

I enjoyed reading this book to my class in October.  Following are some of the pages.

Mother is sending the children after a bucket of milk "at the end of the town."

They celebrate and sing on the way to buy the milk.

This is what they see on the way back home.

What is that sound?!?
It is an appropriate "scary" book to read during Halloween month!:-)

Only 27 more days until Halloween!  Do you have your costume ready?:-)  Are you working on those treats?

Thank you for reading.  I really appreciate your comments.

  2. What great illustrations in those books!!
    No costume for me.
I already have bought the candy for the trick or treaters but have hidden it away so I won't eat it. : )

  4. We have never had any folks come by here for treats, but I always have something available, just in case. Our imaginations play tricks on us after dark, for sure! I remember walking the short distance from a neighbor's house after dark, and even though the road was not lined with trees, it always seemed that somebody was following me! Perhaps it was my own conscience.... :-) Have a great day!

  5. Nellie, It's been rare that we have had trick or treaters....I usually just send all the grandkids a little money.

  8. The extent of my costume is a black tee shirt with a glow-in-the-dark skeleton and the words, "No bones about it. Happy Halloween!" I've probably had that shirt for thirty years, but it still reeeeeeally glows in the dark. Neat looking.

We don't get many trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood, but I'll still buy a bunch of candy, just in case. And it's purely coincidental that I'll only be buying candy my hubby and I happen to like...

  9. The books sounds perfect for October.

I decorate for Halloween but we no longer have any trick or treater. The kids in the neighbourhood all grew up and have moved. I buy treats for my husband and my grandkids.

No costume for me as I barely have time to cook the evening meal on Halloween night.

    Hugs,
    JB
