What we have loved....

Those first spears of homegrown asparagus!  We love it sautéed with scrambled eggs, roasted in the oven, steamed, in quiche - just about anyway we've tried it!  Macho man even likes it raw!:-)

The wind - not so much, but the dogwood blossom was blown off the neighbor's tree into our yard. It's Dogwood Festival time around here.

The bunnies on parade, even though it's after Easter!  We still see bunnies hopping about our yard!

The table set for spring!  Hopefully the predicted cold week-end temperatures will "get the message.":-)

China - Brookdale by Lenox, discontinued.

Have a great day!

  2. I really love asparagus too. I think yours is really nice.
I love your bunnies on your table and your china pattern looks almost like the china I got for our wedding.
I hope you have a lovely Friday.

  3. Asparagus is one of my favorite veggies, and it's even better for you to grow your own! Everything else you show is lovely as well, even that discontinued china. It seems that many manufacturers have done away with some of their most elegant designs....a sign of a more casual lifestyle, I suppose. Oh, well....have a fabulous Friday, Sister! Love you!

  5. I've always wanted to plant my own asparagus, Nellie. I hear you have to make a realy good bed for them. Perhaps one day:)

No bunnies hopping around here yet this Spring. I think they know better, soooooo cold, chance of the S word and I don't mean Spring, lol...

At least I feel all warm and cozy after reading this post:)

    Thanks for sharing, Nellie...

P.S. I've restarted Cookbook Wednesdays over at my blog, whenever you have the inkling (or if anyone else wants to join:) share one of those cookbooks of yours:)

  6. We love asparagus at our house, too! Nellie, how nice you grow your own. I don't have enough sun to grow vegetables. My daughter told me the other day that she roasted asparagus with bacon wrapped around the spears. Of course, everything is good with bacon! Enjoy your weekend. ♥

  7. The china looks quite similar to mine, which was discontinued years ago. The difference is mine has small yellow roses. In almost forty years, I don't think I've used the china more than a dozen times. It can't go in the dishwasher, and if it can't go in the dishwasher, then I don't want to mess with it. When I bought the china, it never occurred to me that some day I would have a dishwasher. At the time, my mother had only had a dishwasher for a few years. My dad wouldn't allow the purchase of a dishwasher because my sisters and I were dishwashers--not me so much because I was the youngest and couldn't do anything right. I love your bunnies. I have some very sweet bunnies on shelves in my dining room.

    Love,
    Janie

  10. My husband loves asparagus. How do you roast yours in the oven? I'll have to try that. I am a dish-a-holic - your china is so pretty. I have my china plus mother's and grandma's. I also love your bunnies. We still have a few dogwood trees blooming.
