Last night around 6:15, we looked out the window to see this.
|The full moon was rising!|
|With camera setting on close-up.|
I have been enjoying reading some in Magical Moons and Seasonal Circles by Susan Betz. This moon was called the "Wolf Moon" by the American Indians. They also called it the "Very Cold Moon" or the "Cold Makes the Trees Crack Moon." These names certainly are appropriate for the month of January!
The predicted snow did not appear here yesterday, though there is once again mention of the possibility for overnight or maybe even Saturday night. I know this winter weather has caused problems for some of you. Susie at SheJunks has been snowbound, without an operating computer, and on a road that plows didn't reach for four days!
Remember - this is the last day to enter - by 8:00 EST this evening - the snowflake cookie cutter giveaway that was mentioned in Monday's post!
Thank you for reading. I really appreciate your comments.
it was too cloudy this morning to see the moon. tonight we are supposed to get snow so i won't be seeing it again. it is clear and sunny today though!ReplyDelete
I got to see that moon from the car and it was beautiful!ReplyDelete
Glad you got the computer issues squared away. I know how frustrating that can be!
Gee, I didn't even notice the moon last night. Happy your computer is cooperating again.ReplyDelete
Great to have you back! I was up around 4:15 and looked out the bedroom window. That moon was just SO brilliant! You have some good pictures here, and we thank you for sharing. I have noticed that sunsets, sunrises, and moonrises are gone in just a matter of moments, and we have to get them while they're there, or we lose the opportunity.ReplyDelete
On the subject of weather, your blogging friend Ethel Farmer has had high, damaging winds in her area of Canada, and she has been without internet for a couple of days. It seems to be back today, so we surely will be able to see what she has to say this afternoon. See you later! :-)
It is very blustery here today and looks like it could snow a foot. Of course I hope it doesn't!ReplyDelete
Great photos of the moon Nellie!
Great pictures. I really appreciate seeing them. We have too much light here to get good pictures of the night sky. Have a great Thursday!ReplyDelete
Wolf moon, I've never heard it called that name before. How interesting.ReplyDelete
I'm glad that your computer only needed to take a break. they need refreshing like we do.
very good shots of that moon. It was very pretty this morning as it was getting ready to set.ReplyDelete
So glad you got your computer issue fixed. Have a lovely day.
I love those snapshots, Nellie!ReplyDelete
Yesterday I saw the full moon behind a fine veil of clouds. It was beautiful...
I'm sorry about your technical troubles. I've had them too lately. As a matter of fact, I wanted to comment on a quote you posted last weekend but my blogger was not working well. I loved it. Thank you for sharing it.
Glad your back up and running, Nellie. :) Beautiful moon . . . we missed the moon here due to extremely thick fog.ReplyDelete
Nice moon shot.ReplyDelete
It snows about every other day here but it doesn't add up to all that much. I'm still waiting for a foot or two at one time.
Glad you got all 'fixed'... Sometimes we all need to be restarted!!!!! ha haReplyDelete
Beautiful photos of the moon. We didn't get any this month.. Gotten cold again --but hopefully, not much snow (if any)... Since we got missed on Wed., we probably will get missed tomorrow also... But--one never knows!!! ha
It was too cloudy here to see the moon..again. Your information was so interesting...I had no idea.. TY!ReplyDelete
Glad you missed the snow...and hope you don't get it this weekend!
