Also for Children....

There have been a few recent posts regarding books from the United Methodist Women Reading List for 2015.  There are also books for children included on this list, and I am including the covers of them today.

"Deep in the Sahara" is a book about a young girl who wants to wear a malafa, a garment worn by Muslim women.  The story deals with her journey to discover the meaning of the garment.

"My Name is Blessing" tells of a young boy who is born with a disability.  His name actually indicates this.  While there is love at home for this boy, his grandmother sets out with him on a search to find a place that will honor him and take care of his needs.

What is it about the power of a smile?  Amelia's smile spreads around the world and brings happiness and satisfaction to people she may never meet.

I am still hoping to read about the chickens and their attempt to build a wall.  Perhaps you may have read this book.  Let me know what you think.

What are you reading these days?

  1. These books certainly seem to be good choices for children, or for anyone! Right now, I'm doing very well just to complete my daily Bible reading, but I do enjoy that, as there are always treasures to be found in God's Word. Have a fabulous Friday, Sister! :-)

  2. Hi Nellie...Haven't read any of those children's books. They sound like a nice variety of subjects.

Wish I could see your David Austin roses. Why can't your photos appear with your blog at my house? What do you think is the problem? Susan

  3. You always choose nice children books and they are great teaching tools for children and sometimes also for us adults.

I read Susan's comment and i was wondering if she had upgraded her server lately.
I had similar problems and my computer was too slow to upload pictures and I found out that I had to upgrade Safari to Google Chrome and everything was so much faster and it solved my problem.

    Have a great day.
    Hugs,
    JB

  4. Nellie, I have never heard of these books...but they sound interesting. Last year, I got some books from the sale table at our library. One was of someone's grandma going to a nursing home and one was on a street person...such different subjects than I or my girls read about. They were good books too. Blessings to you for a great mother's day. xoxo,Susie

  8. We have Deep in the Sahara at our library; it's a nice story, but what stayed with me most is the little girl's dress, with the lilies on it - I'd like to copy the design!
