Time for refreshment....

Without a doubt, summertime is here!  The heat index here yesterday neared 100 degrees!  That is time for some cool summer refreshment.

Smoothie, anyone?

While Smoothies are mentioned as a great breakfast option, I find a good one can be a smart choice for an afternoon "pick-me-up."

This recipe is from the March 2013 Everyday Food leaflet that arrived with my issue of Living Magazine.

TROPICAL BLUEBERRY
2 teaspoons sugar
1 cup chopped pineapple
1 1/2 cups frozen blueberries
1 orange, seeded and cut into quarters
1/2 - 3/4 cup water

- Add ingredients, in order listed, to blender.  Blend until desired consistency.

Beautiful, tasty, and healthy!

I send along good Thursday wishes to you!  Stay safe and cool!

Thank you for reading.  I really appreciate your comments.

  5. That's one that I can handle easily. I wouldn't add the sugar since I'm diabetic and I'm sure it would be sweet enough.
    Yikes, 100 degree already!... Here it's 16 C. or 60.8 F.
Thanks Nellie and enjoy your day.

  6. It looks good but I'm not a fan of drinks. I'd rather chew my fruit than drink it : )

  7. Hot is hot, regardless of the heat index and it's HOT here, too. Whew!

Hubby just brought in a bunch of fruit and it sounds rather refreshing on a HOT day.

  11. We love Smoothies in the summer.. Since we eat soup in the winter, we usually enjoy the smoothies for lunch in the summer. However, until a couple of days this week, we haven't had any hot weather much yet. SO--we're still eating soup and not smoothies yet. I'll bet we switch soon...

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  14. I don't see many smoothie recipes that don't have yogurt or banana in them - this looks good (except I think I'd leave out the sugar!) You are quite a cook, Nellie!
