Winter enjoyment....

With the coming of some very cold weather, it may be time to return to some past enjoyment of working jigsaw puzzles.

Sorry for the reflections.  This was the first one that really gave the idea of framing to display them in some way.

This brings a bit of cheer to a bare bathroom wall.

This one is at home with the display of birdhouses.

Framed in an old window, and hanging on a windowless wall.

You've seen this one earlier.  Time for him to head off for his "long winter's nap!"

Do you have a special hobby that is good for cold, winter months?

  1. Nellie, I love your framed puzzle...what a good idea. My gosh, I have not done a puzzle for so long. That is something I need to do. Thank you for the fun idea.. It would help pass the long winter hours. Say, better than shoveling snow my dear, which I just finished doing. LOL. Bless your heart, xoxo,Susie

  2. Puzzles are one of favorite activities when we are at the A-frame. The whole family participates and "unplugs" from technology. Love it.

  3. Puzzles have always been fun for me, but these days, I seem to have trouble finding a good place to do one! Also, my current "puzzle" is Facebook, and there are plenty of "pieces" for that puzzle!!! At the senior center we attend, there is a large table with a HUGE puzzle, with 2000 pieces, and folks who have some time on their hands are welcome to work on it for awhile. Lots of fun for lots of folks! Yours have graced your lovely home very well, and my hat is off to you for the patience that is required to complete some of these pictures! Have a terrific Tuesday, Sister!

  4. I crochet and try to sew! I need to get the machine out as I have a TON of material and lots of ideas I want to try. I like the puzzles. It gave me an idea for a "game" on Christmas eve. I need to get out there shopping NOW though to get a Christmas theme puzzle on discount! I could get a 100 piece puzzle and have two teams put a Christmas puzzle together. First one finished...wins! Thanks!

  5. I love puzzles. I work on puzzles after Christmas Day to wound down with the girls every year. I made a 5000 piece of Midsummer Night Dream and it's framed and hangs on my office wall.

    A great winter pastime.

  7. Lovely images. I never knew Santa could be a cat lover, but it makes sense.

I used to ice skate, I don't do it anymore sadly. Here in the UK winter is a grey, austere autumn, without the snow of winter or the fiery colours. I will try to read more and stay active as much as possible, take long walks.

  8. Oh I like the idea of the window frame over the puzzle. Great idea and I may just copy that one from you.

You already know that I like to do puzzles as well, and have the next one sitting out on the table to start any time now.

  9. I think they are just lovely.
I have always thought of doing that, but never have. I love how they looks all framed.

  10. They have such beautiful puzzles these days - they are really works of art. My parents used to put a lot of puzzles together and I miss that. We could do it, but never seem to get inspired. Too much computer, social media for me, and Mr. D is into every sport there is on TV. Maybe once the Packers are through playing.

  11. My hope for this winter is to read more and to do some baking. I only read two books in the last month and I'd like to do a lot better in the long winter months.
