Well, let’s get right to it! The first concern is dessert. Right?!?
Jiffy Apple Crisp it is! I was lucky enough to notice McIntosh apples advertised by my favorite market, and I ordered some which I used in this apple crisp. This was the first time for me to make this particular recipe. I’ve been thumbing through my cookbook collection to see what gems I’ve overlooked in past years. This book was a Christmas gift in 1998, so it has been on my shelf for a long time! White Lily Flour was once milled locally, and it is still readily available here. Many cooks would have no other flour for baking.
The rest of the menu....
There is honey mustard on part of the chicken and barbecue sauce on the other, and I sliced the sweet potato lengthwise.
It’s a beautiful day September day here, preparing for the first official day of autumn.
Take care, be safe, stay well, wear a mask, practice social distancing, and avoid large crowds!
Thank you for following along with the blog!
Such a lovely Sunday dinner, Nellie. White Lily flour is well known in the south, though I must admit to never trying it. Enjoy the beautiful Autumn days, my friend.
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon, Sister! My first experience with a "crisp" was cranberry crisp in high school, and it was wonderful! Someone asked one of the cafeteria workers for the recipe, and she began with "50 pounds of flour!" Well, I'm sure your apple crisp was just as delicious (you could even put a few dried cranberries in it for variety), and I doubt that The Husband has left any for another time. The rest of your meal is also wonderful, and I do wish you could email some to me! I've been out and about some today, wearing my mask, observing proper distance, using my plastic disposable gloves for some activities, and now I'm home, ready for a nap! Have a good afternoon. Love you!
ReplyDeleteI love an apple crisp, and a quicker to make one, in a jiffy, without all that rubbing in of the fat, gets my vote. If I ate meat, I would love your chicken dinner too. Yum!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a yummy meal. I often make apple crisp for a quick desert. So easy to make and so satisfying.
