NELLIE'S STRAWBERRIES
1/4 cup butter, melted (1/2 stick)
2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs
- Combine the above and press into the bottom (and up the sides if you have enough) of an oblong dish.
Freeze.
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened ( used 1/3 reduced fat)
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup Cool Whip ( I used Free)
- Mix these three ingredients together and pour over the frozen vanilla wafer crust.
2 cups (or more) sliced strawberries
- Arrange the sliced strawberries over the cream cheese layer.
1 pkg. (small) instant pudding (I used vanilla, but chocolate would be good as well).
1 3/8 cup milk (I used skim)
- Mix and let stand 2 minutes. Pour over the strawberries. Spread Cool Whip over the pudding layer.
- Keep refrigerated.
I am better pleased with the results following the changes I made. Many of you may recognize this basic recipe. There are several variations out there, and similar recipes may be found in various places.

This sounds really good Nellie! I bought strawberries when I shopped last week and they were perfect. I think I ate about half of them as I was preparing them for the freezer.

Love your recipe Nellie. It is somewhat similar to the one I posted a few months back but only with chocolate. I'm dying to try yours though. Your crust is SO much easier than the one I use and you add that beautiful strawberry layer. YUM! You've really done it up this time girfriend!!! Love it!
