Our ice....

Those of you who live in colder climates will probably be amused with this post.  I am sharing a few pictures of our ice on Friday.  I should remind you that we live in an area where the coldest temperatures in the winter rarely are lower than the high teens, and those times are not long-lasting.  Last year, our winter was very mild.  Rarely were our temperatures even as cold as freezing!  So, that is why something like Friday's weather happening makes the news.  I can't even remember the last time we had icicles here!

Icicles!

All right - I know they are tiny!

From the front gutter.

To the west from the front.

Icy in the back.

Icy in the front.

We were fortunate in that we didn't ever lose our electricity.  The ice was short-lived, too, and I have some other pictures to share with you showing what it was like "the day after."  That is for another post!

Thank you for reading.   I appreciate your comments.

  1. I can assure your other followers that what you have pictured is quite accurate, and the sidewalks were VERY icy! This ice storm came at the best possible time, though, since it had been dry for several days before, and the county road personnel had a good chance to pre-treat the roads so that travel was not as hazardous as it might have been. I think the fellow from the Weather Channel was a bit disappointed because our event was not really very newsworthy! That's fine, though....it could have been MUCH worse without those precautions! Have a great day! :-)

  9. Looks like we had the same weather system moving through Nellie, and it was a slippery one indeed !
I'd like to see at least one nice snow before the winter is over, just to help with the insect population :)
    Great pictures...brrr.

  10. Nellie, If you go out, please, please be careful. It only take a glaze to slick things up enough to fall on steps. We truly lucked out on the ice coming through our area..it stayed north of us.I will count that as a blessing.xoxo,Susie

  14. In this wacky winter weather -- how's that for alliteration! -- we had no ice, but fifteen degrees. Today is in the thirties and by Wednesday, the prediction is sixty, and then back down and snow. Wacky indeed!
