Sunday, March 24, 2019....

On March 23, 1869, a group of women met in the basement of a Methodist church in Boston and created the Women's Foreign Missionary Society.  Through the years, this organization has had a few name changes, and today is known as the United Methodist Women.  Their focus has continued to be on mission with children, youth, and women worldwide.

Today's Mission Focus is the Epworth Children and Family Services in St. Louis, Missouri.

This is the Third Sunday in Lent.  May you be surrounded by hope, joy, love, and peace on this day!  Special blessings to all!

  2. Sister, I think the first name I recall was the WSCS - Women's Society for Christian Service. It was assumed that these ladies never worked outside the home, and there was a branch called the Ladies' Auxiliary for those who held outside jobs. Most work was done by the first group, and the rest of us were invited to monthly meetings and dinners if we were able to attend. In our home church, there was no auxiliary, and I'm ashamed to say that there was more emphasis on "society" than on "service." I hope their focus has changed a lot! Many blessings to you always! Love you!
