Up the mountain....

Happy Thursday to you!  The week is moving right along!

On Tuesday, I posted about continuing the road trip.  In this post, we will go to the top of Whitetop Mountain!

On the way!

Flowers on top of the mountain.

The views were spectacular, though it was a misty day.  One is able to see North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia from this location.

Several years ago, construction was done on a building further up the top, necessitating the electrical wires.

All of the group didn't make the trip up the mountain.  Part of them chose to ride bicycles down the Creeper Trail, so one bus took them to pick up bicycles that our "FL" had arranged to have available for them.  Also, it wasn't a wise idea to bring a bus up the mountain with a group, so part of those attending chose to return to campus with THAT bus.  The rest of us carpooled up the mountain.

When we came down, we stopped at a market for a rare treat - a chance to purchase RC Cola (in an individual glass bottle) and a Moon Pie!:-)  Sorry!  No picture.

The day ended with dinner and music.  We were honored to be seated at the President's table.  He has just recently moved to Emory and Henry as the former President retired after serving for ten years.

Do you think the posts about More Than A Vacation are all done?  No.  There is still more.  It was quite a week!

Thank you for reading.  I really appreciate your comments.

  4. The views are so pretty. I really like looking at them.
It makes me smile that you had a chance to by a RC cola and a moon pie. My uncle used to be the distributor of RC Cola out here years ago. I liked the glass bottles.
