Out and about....

I thought I'd share some images with you that were spotted when we were out and about yesterday.

A man's house is his castle.....

.....literally!  We have watched this being built for sometime now, and The Husband assumed it was going to be an office building.  Then there was an article in the paper with the information that it is actually a private residence that is being constructed!  It is high on a hill above one of the busiest roadways in this part of town!  The local high school is out of sight in the picture, but is on the right, within view of the house.

The motel of many colors!

The different colors of this new motel don't really show up well in the picture.  We watched as it was being built and found it interesting that so many varying colors were used in its construction.

There is still some color left here!

I was trying to take a picture that would show that we have some color remaining on the trees.  I wonder what the predicted wind will do to the leaves today.

Not too early!

This was part of the decoration at the Mary Kay Center where I went to view the holiday display set up by my favorite consultant!  Oh!  Yes, I did make a purchase or two.:-)

This was actually a half moon!

On the close up setting.

These last two pictures were taken at 5:30 in the afternoon as I stood in our backyard!  I don't understand the extra spots on the first picture.  It looks like there were raindrops on the lens.  I took the picture on the bottom immediately after I took the other one.  Guess I need to study up on my camera.:-)

I hope you had a good Monday and that good things will come your way today.

Thank you for reading.  I really appreciate your comments.

  1. Thank you for sharing these lovely photos with us! There are truly some unique construction projects going on, and it's interesting to see them develop into something identfiable. I hope the people who are building that fantabulous new home will be able to enjoy many family times, with harmony and joy for many years. Our colors are still a bit strange, but the tree across the road has lost most of its glorious yellow/orange leaves. I have wondered in recent years, why the trees have to lose all their "clothes" when the temperatures are getting the coldest. Oh, I know all the scientific stuff, but it just seems that they could use those leaves to stay warmer when the temps are dropping. Have a wonderful day! :-)

  2. It looks really nice to see where you live. I always wonder why people build so close to a road. I imagine people will say that about us when they put the one through in front of our house.
I can't believe the moon was up that high at 5:30, I thought it would be much later. I am glad you still have color.
    Have a wonderful day today.

  3. I can't imagine living that close to a busy roadway, but it's a huge, nice place. Hope the walls are thick, or I'm sure it could get quite noisy.

  4. I like the sparkly tree at the Mary Kay gathering. I think houses that big are in poor taste, it is hard on the environment to heat and cool it, etc. Of course if they have a huge family that could explain the size. We had a home built near us that big, for two people.

  5. I enjoyed your photos. That private house is amazing. From your description, I would not have chosen that setting for such a beautiful house, but I guess I'm not the one who will live there - darn!! You have more leaves left than we do. We must be a week ahead of you as it's looking pretty bleak here.

  6. That is some castle. Great photos Nellie!

  7. There are a couple of homes here in Georgia that are built like honest-to-God castles, too. Delusions of grandeur, I reckon. When I look at one of those places, I always think, "Ain't no way I want to wash all those windows!"

Stay warm. Looks like we're getting a chilly blast here in the south. (Doggone it.) Looks like we'll be lighting a fire in the ol' fireplace tonight.

  8. Wow that's quite a unique house, er, castle. And I love those moon shots!

  9. Hi Nellie , your pictures are awesome and I love the moon shots , thanks for sharing :)

  10. That is a big house. I always wonder why people built such big houses. When the house is too big, everyone grows apart.

Everyone are trying to preserve the last Fall colors.
Interesting shots of the moon. It looks round and those unexplained spots.... maybe they are orbs, lol...

  11. I think I'd like to tour that castle home. Isn't amazing how dark it is at 5:30pm now with the time change? Love your moon pics too.

  12. Beautiful blue skies and a sunny day! Thank you for sharing lovely photos of your area. Always interesting to see places in other parts of the world.

  13. Nellie,
I often pass the house castle on our way to pick Emory up and was also surprised to find out that it would be a private residence!

Kitely and I enjoyed watching the "castle" in Hardin Valley being built and speculating as to what it could be. Turns out I now work with the owner!
